Letgolts Method Physical Therapy

3. Letgolts Method Physical Therapy

11740 San Vicente Blvd #206, Los Angeles, CA 90049

Dr. Letgolts treats the root cause of symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves. The Letgolts Method physical therapy is often the long term solution for hard to treat conditions.

We can bill all insurance carriers and are are in-network with Medicare & Blueshield.
*We do not offer Aquatic Therapy*

Whether you want to eliminate pain or improve athletic performance, the Letgolts Method physical therapy takes a whole body approach. When you have pain or unbalanced movement, your body creates compensations that can damage other joints and tissues. In order to achieve long-term health, you must address not only symptoms, but more importantly, their causes.

The Letgolts Method physical therapy services combines principles of engineering with careful analysis of your movement to determine the cause of pain and improve physical activity. Dr. Letgolts treats the root cause of symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves. The Letgolts Method physical therapy is often the long term solution for hard to treat conditions.

To accomplish this, Dr. Letgolts developed the Letgolts Method, a system of diagnosis that uses the formal logic of mathematics and computer science, as well as the structural dynamics of engineering. Using this method, Dr. Letgolts evaluates the complex interplay of neuromuscular and skeletal systems in the patient’s body. The result is a thorough assessment of the patient’s symptoms, their related compensations, and the underlying causes.

Our Services:

Physical Therapy
Many people come to us for help in eliminating their pain. We use therapy for the preservation, enhancement, or restoration of movement and physical function. We treat pain that results from injuries, arthritis, or simply prolonged incorrect posture and movement. After a through evaluation of the root causes of your difficulty or pain, we use manual techniques, therapeutic exercise, massage, electrotherapy, assistive devices, and patient education to treat the root cause of symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves. Many of our patients find that we eliminate their pain and/or improve their athletic performance. Often patents are able to avoid painful and expensive surgery, and reduce or even eliminate the long-term use of prescription medications and their side effects.

Sports Performance Enhancement
For our more athletic patients, we offer sport-specific biomechanical assessment. Professional athletes as well as recreationally active people benefit from correct movement. Whether you play golf, tennis, run, bike, or enjoy other sports, we can assist you to become more proficient and avoid injury. Through manual therapy, stretching, strengthening, and re-educating muscular movement, we help you maximize your sports performance and endurance. Many of our patients experience dramatic improvement in their sports performance with minor adjustments in balance, strength, and quality of movement.

Foot Orthotics
Dr. Letgolts is trained in gait analysis, body anatomy, and the biomechanics of correct and healthy movement. Often pain in the knees, lower back, and neck can be traced to pronation and incorrect foot placement when walking. Custom orthotics are often the key to correcting a patient’s posture and eliminating pain. Orthotics are designed to align the foot and ankle into their most stable position so they can support the body, and to minimize the impact of walking and running. When the feet are properly positioned, often the posture becomes correctly aligned. This can result in relieving compressed joints, relaxing tense muscles, and allowing for easier movement because the body is able to move as it was intended to move.

Pilates
We offer highly customized Pilates-based strengthening and rehabilitation by licensed physical therapists and certified Pilates instructors. Pilates is a safe, full body workout that simultaneously strengthens and stretches. You build core strength while working the body evenly, so no muscles are ever over or under–trained. This helps correct muscle imbalances and prevents injuries. Benefits of Pilates include improved posture, coordination, strength and flexibility.

Core Conditioning
Our in-facility exercises assist you to build deep core strength, mobilize your spine, and improve your posture, relieve pain, and protect against future injury. Various tools and props keep you challenged while having fun and building strength and flexibility.

Ergonomic Analysis
For those patients interested in improving their overall health, we offer an assessment of an individual’s work, sports, and daily life activities that may pose a risk of musculoskeletal disorders. Common examples of ergonomic risk factors are repetitive, forceful, or prolonged exertion of hands, frequent or heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of heavy objects, and prolonged awkward postures. Once we identify risk factors, we work with patients to alleviate the symptoms and find ways to avoid the damaging movements in everyday life.

Quality Physical Therapy Treats the cause, not merely the symptoms

So what’s the secret to receiving quality physical therapy?

Treatment provided by highly skilled, registered physical therapists trained to constantly re-evaluate your progress and adjust your treatment accordingly… That’s the secret to quality physical therapy

Assistants and aides generally deliver modalities and cannot re-evaluate your problem and adjust the treatment accordingly.

Only a registered, trained professional can deliver the hands-on techniques and supervised exercises you need to treat the cause of your injury and truly heal it.

At Challenge Physical Therapy you will not be treated by aides or assistants, as we don’t employ them. Your treatment – your recovery- will be in the hands of highly trained and skilled registered physical therapists. The most effective treatment techniques are joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization and therapeutic exercise.

What is Joint Mobilization?

Joint Mobilization is a manual hands-on therapy technique that requires advanced understanding of and training in the treatment of joint dysfunctions. Joint dysfunctions are one of the most common causes of painful, debilitating symptoms. Treating them with joint mobilization can have profound healing effects.

The physical therapists at Challenge Physical Therapy have at least Master’s Degrees in Manual Therapy (joint and soft tissue mobilization).

What is Soft Tissue Mobilization?

Soft tissue mobilization uses such techniques as:

Myofascial release
Soft tissue release/deep tissue massage
Contract/Relax
Strain/Counterstrain and other positional release techniques
These techniques help restore circulation, decrease inflammation, restore and improve mobility, decrease pain and joint dysfunction as well as restore normal movement.

What is therapeutic exercise?

At Challenge Physical Therapy we are very specific about using the exact exercise your body needs to regenerate the tissue causing your problem. We use:

Medical Exercise Training (M.E.T)
Scientific, Therapeutic Exercise Progressions (S.T.E.P). This technique is very specific to help determine the perfect number of repetitions and weight you should be using.
Exercise is used to:

Mobilize and stabilize joints
Increase strength & endurance
Regenerate your damaged tissues
Increase tolerance for your activities of daily living
As a supplement to your clinical exercise program, your Challenge Physical Therapist will design an individualized home exercise program for you. It typically includes stretching and strengthening exercises as well as self adjustment techniques you can use to help decrease pain by yourself. The home exercise program will help ensure the gains made during the clinical treatment sessions are maintained.

Exercise is the only way you can regenerate your musculo-skeletal tissues!
