+ Doctor of Physical Therapy
+ Certified Integrated Manual Therapist
+ Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist
+ Certified Dry Needling Therapist
+ Pain Relief Rehab Expert
+ Specialists in Sports Rehabilitation
+ Experienced in Geriatric Rehabilitation
+ Licensed to practice in the State of New York and Maryland

Dr. Alreen Day Alfonso is known to many as "Day" and has been in an outpatient physical therapy practice for over 13+ years. Dr. Day is the co-owner and co-founder of Beat Rehabilitation and Wellness. Her passion for working with patients inspired her to open her practice along with her husband John, who is also the financial manager of the company.

Dr. Day is a Certified Orthopaedic Certified Specialist. This is a recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in Orthopaedic physical therapy given by the American Physical Therapy Association (Apta).

A Certified Integrated Manual Therapist by profession, she is a trained specialist to assess whole body dysfunction using current evidence-based treatments. She is experienced in the use of muscle energy techniques, myofascial release and advanced joint mobilization and manipulation. Through the years, she gained extensive knowledge and practice in performing rehabilitation of post-operative patients including treatment of rotator cuff repairs, joint replacements, spine fusions, ACL and Meniscus surgeries, Achilles tendon and other muscle repair surgeries, amongst others.

Dr. Day is also a Certified Advanced Dry Needling Practitioner in Maryland serving Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and Howard County. She works with patients with varying conditions from a headache to plantar fasciitis using this technique.

She also works with a lot of chronic pain patients by utilizing trigger point dry needling and manual therapy. Along with the help of her patients, she thoroughly assesses all the possible factors affecting pain chronicity, which includes, but not limited to, physical activities, sleep patterns, diet, water intake and stress management. This helps her address all the possible causes of chronic pain and aids in proper treatment and referral to appropriate medical professionals.

She performs selective functional movement assessment for athletes, runners, and active individuals to prevent and treat movement dysfunctions. This is done by giving corrective exercises and providing a full rehabilitation program including home exercises and injury education.

She completed her degree in Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Arcadia University, Glenside, PA. She is currently working on completing her strength and conditioning specialist certification with Nsca and finalizing her journal article regarding shoulder trigger point dry needling for publication.

Dr. Day is also a certified clinical instructor to multiple physical therapy and physical therapy assistant programs in Maryland.

In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family (husband, two daughters and Shih-Tzu), working out, reading and binge watching.
